Dr Loh Boon Kwang (Consultant Eye Specialist . Retina Surgeon), together with a fellow eye specialist colleague, gave a public Eye Care Talk in Mandarin on 18 April 2015, 1:30 to 3 pm, at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre Singapore. This Talk was organised by Centre to educate the public on the theme “保护我们的眼睛, 改善我们的视力” (translated as “Protect our Eyes, Improve Our Vision). The Talk garnered quite a lot of interest even during the registration period and the actual turnout exceeded our expectation.
Dr Loh started the session and spoke on the topic of “糖尿病与眼疾 (白内障, 青光眼, 飞蚊症, 糖尿病视网膜病变, 视网膜脱落)”, translated as “Diabetes and Eye Conditions (Cataract, Glaucoma, Floaters, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retina Detachment)”.
Dr Loh’s colleague, Dr Por Yong Ming, next spoke about the latest developments in Cataract surgery.
The Talk ended after a lively Question and Answer session and the attendees used the opportunity to clarify their questions and concerns with the doctors. Medical talks are hardly conducted in Mandarin in Singapore. We are encouraged by the public’s keen interest in this Talk and we are glad that we can contribute by educating the Chinese speaking community on the important topic of Eye Conditions and Eye Care.
