My Eye Specialist & Retina Surgeon started as an eye specialist clinic with Dr Loh Boon Kwang at Mt Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre in 2015, then moved to a larger unit within the same centre in 2018. In 2021, we moved to our current larger premises across the road at Royal Square Medical Centre.

Our current clinic facility has a cozy and relaxing vibe, with a great view of the surrounding greenery or the city skyline. With more space and equipment, our patients can undergo many eye tests, lasers, eye injection, or minor surgeries in the comfort of our clinic. We have:

  • 2 laser machines – Zeiss Visulas Yag III laser and Topcon Pascal Synthesis laser;
  • Treatment room – for intravitreal eye injections and minor surgeries;
  • Extensive up-to-date specialized diagnostic equipment from reputable brands to perform comprehensive eye tests, including retina photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT) macular and optic nerve scan, visual field/ perimetry, A & B ultrasound scan, endothelial cell count, cornea topography, biometry, slit lamp, fundus fluorescein (FA) angiography, and Indocyanine Green (ICG) angiography.

Brief Biography

Dr Loh is an experienced senior consultant eye specialist, and an accredited cataract, eye and vitreoretinal surgeon trained in Singapore and USA. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1998 and Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr Loh underwent his Ophthalmology specialist and sub-specialist training in vitreo-retinal conditions at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). Under the Ministry of Health Post-graduate Training Scholarship, he further pursued advanced sub-specialist medical and surgical vitreo-retinal training in the United States (USA) for Adult and Paediatric Vitreous and Retina conditions, at the world-renowned Associated Retina Consultants of the Beaumont Hospital in Michigan and the Vitreous-Retina-Macula Consultants of New York.

Before leaving for private practice in 2014, Dr Loh was a Consultant Ophthalmologist with the Departments of Vitreo-Retinal Service, General Cataract and Comprehensive Service, Consultant-in-charge of the Retina sub-specialty at Changi General Hospital and adjunct Research Fellow at the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

Dr Loh is fluent in English, Chinese, Teochew, and Hokkien. He is often invited to give interviews, talks, and seminars regarding eye conditions, treatment, and management to the public on TV and radio and to GP doctors and other eye care professionals.

Brief Biography

Dr Jay Siak obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 2004, and was awarded the Dean’s list award for academic excellence. He was also awarded the Ministry of Health Post-graduate Training Scholarship in 2012 for specialist training and Healthcare Research Scholarship for Master of Clinical Investigation in 2013. He received his M Med(Ophth) in 2012, FRCOphth, FAMS and MCI in 2015, and FRCSEd (Ophth) in 2016.

Having a keen interest in Ocular Inflammation and Immunology, he successfully completed his sub-specialty fellowship training at SNEC. He was also awarded the National Medical Research Council Clinician-Scientist-Individual Research Grant (New Investigator Grant) to study Ocular Cytomegalovirus infections in 2013. Under a HMDP scholarship, he pursued a two years post-doctoral fellowship in Ocular Immunology at Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon, and National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA, under the mentorship of James T Rosenbaum, Eric Suhler, Phoebe Lin, Rachel Caspi, and H. Nida Sen.

His areas of clinical expertise include:

  • Uveitis, scleritis and ocular inflammatory conditions;
  • Intraocular infections and cancers;
  • Immunosuppressive therapy in relation to ocular inflammatory conditions;
  • Cataract and general ophthalmology: including femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery.
